There is no way to prevent earwax from getting onto your hearing aid. The ear produces earwax. Some people produce more earwax than others and may need to clean their hearing aids more frequently. If you are one of those people with
significant earwax buildup, it is important to have your ears checked regularly and have excess earwax removed. Your hearing aid may not function properly if earwax blocks your ear canal. Cleaning the hearing aid and earmold. are easy and should be done every night. Use a soft dry cloth to wipe away earwax and oils. Never use any liquid to clean your hearing aid. Leave the battery door open to make sure the hearing aid is off and to allow moisture to escape. With proper care and regular professional cleaning every three to six months, earwax should not be a problem. The information provided here is general in nature and should not substitute for the care and advice of a licensed health care provider.
